| David E. Norman Elementary School is a "frontier" school located in northeast central Nevada. Our distirict is, for the most part, its own resource. We are a Title I school. Through the vision of the many people in our school and community, we are working toward becoming a great school. With a focus on learning and brain research, we feature a Response to Intervention coach and use the Fast ForWord Products. David E. Norman Elementary school made AYP (Annual Yearly Progress) for the school years 2003-04, 2004-05, and 2005-06. Our school was selected as a Title I Distinguished School for Nevada for 2006-07. This year, David E. Norman Elementary is in year three of Needs Improvement. We are currently using the NCCAT-S auditing process. We welcome the opportunity to closely examine our intructional practices and effectiveness and make the needed changes to meet the needs of our children and community. Some key features of our school are: a foundation in Professional Learning Communities and brain research, weekly whole staff professional development, grade level and data analysis teams which meet weekly, a school-wide RTI process, an extensive teacher-resource library, the research-based Fast ForWord products and AUTOSKILL math intervention, and Singapore Math materials. We are forunate to have a very active PTO. |
